Joseph F. "Joe" Hudgins, 73

Joseph F. "Joe" Hudgins, age 73 of Remington, passed away at his residence on October 4, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born in Eldorado, IL. on April 20, 1941, the son of Ewing Lee and Emma (Clark) Hudgins.

Joe was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and was a member of the American Legion Honor Guard. Joe and his wife have resided in Remington for 35 years, and he owned and operated Remington Auto Body shop for over 20 years. He then worked for Luck Express, from which he recently retired after 14 years of service.

Joe is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sonja Higgins Hudgins and two children, JoDeane Hudgins Rhoades (Todd) of Greenville, SC and David Brian Hudgins (Kathy) of Dayton, IN. His grandchildren, Dana Rhoades of Cincinnati, OH and Jill Rhoades of Greenville, SC, Jacob and Katie Hudgins of Lafayette, IN; a sister, Martha Bergman (Howard) of Eldorado, IL and brothers, Donald Hudgins of Kingman, AZ and Arkie Hudgins (Faye) of Maryville, TN and many nieces and nephews.

Joe loved spending time with his family, traveling with his wife, joking with his grandchildren and fishing or playing cards with his buddies.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Virginia Ashley; brothers Eugene and Jerry Hudgins and a sister in law Bobbie Hudgins.

A casual gathering in celebration of Joe's life will be held on October 7, 2014 from 4 to 6 PM Central Time at Jackson Funeral Chapel in Rensselaer with an informal service at 6:00 PM.
