Dr. Joseph E. Jackson, age 77, of Hot Springs, went to be with his Lord on March 21, 2012. He was born on March 31, 1934 at Tulsa, Oklahoma the son of Ray Henderson Jackson and Opal Bernice McCormick Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents and one great-grandson, Tyler Scott Ables. Dr. Jackson was married to Patricia Ford on July 6, 1955. Dr. Jackson was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Hot Springs and served for sixty-four years as a credentialed minister of the Assemblies of God. He pastored and served as presbyter in Oklahoma, Texas, Iowa and Arkansas districts and was a member of the National Christian Counselors Association. He served as administrator of the national Hillcrest Children's Home of the Assemblies of God in Hot Springs. He went on mission trips in Mexico, several times, nine European countries, Siberia and Russia. Dr. Jackson served as an officer for Rotary Clubs throughout his life and currently was a member of the Hot Springs National Park Rotary Club. He attended numerous colleges and received several degrees, including doctorates in Biblical studies and counseling. He was a United States Marine and served during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Patricia Jackson of Hot Springs; his son and daughter-in-law, Joe Jackson, Jr. and wife, Tammie of Little Rock; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia Nunn and husband David of Waxahachie, Texas and Belinda Lane and husband, Don of Ola; twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, William and Bonnie Jackson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Jewel Ann Earp of Bristow, Oklahoma, Barbara and Phil Johnson of Claremore, Oklahoma and Sharon and Don Younger of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, Pamela Baney of Tulsa, Oklahoma; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 24, 2012 in the First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Mark Haston and Rev. Joe Jackson, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs. Interment will be in the Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery in North Little Rock. Pallbearers will be Dave Nunn, Jacob Nunn, Caleb Nunn, Mathew Lane, Ricky Oates, Kenny Rinkle, Tye Garrett and Brock Waldo. Memorials may be made in his honor to Assemblies of God missions.
