Joseph T. Janick 1929 - 2022 Springfield Joseph T. "Joe" Janick, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2022, at J.G.S. Life Care in Longmeadow, with his loving family by his side. Joe was born on March 8, 1929, one of six children to the late Walter W. and Eva (Piaseka) Janick. Born in Springfield, Joe attended Carew Street School as a child, as well as Chestnut Junior High. Following graduating from Technical High School in 1947, he enlisted in the Army during the Korean War and worked as a Medic during that time. While in the service he met his wife, Lidia, and married in 1952. Shortly after they began their life together and had four wonderful children. He went on to work for the famous Nissen Bakery for two years and worked for Bond Bread for over 20 years as a sanitation supervisor. In 1969 he took on a position as a janitor working at Richco Janitor Service Inc. and soon after became a successful owner of the business. He also founded Arrow Security Company Inc in
Springfield, MA. Joe was a kind, generous man, who would do anything for anyone. He was successful in every sense of the word. He was an extremely hard worker, dedicated and devoted father having raised four children on his own for more 20 years after the passing of his wife. He was overall an "exceptionally fine gentlemen" as mentioned by Warren Parker of the Agawam Advertiser Newspaper in an article title "Interesting folks in town". In June of 2006 Joe was interviewed and considered by the town of Agawam as the "Town Hero". Joe was the kind of person, who would give you the shirt off his back and willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Joe was a man of principles, faith, and strong work ethic. Most notably, he was sincere and humble. He was also a member of the Saint Joseph Polish National Church, Civitan Club and later on was a active member of Our Lady of Holy Rosary. Joe eventually met his long-time companion, Evelyn. Joe loved life and lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed Fishing, Traveling, going to the Casino, watching Western Movies and listening to Old Country Music and a dedicated fan of The Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He had a wonderful sense of humor and could make anyone laugh. He enjoyed the simple things in life, above all else, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren. Joe leaves behind his long-time Companion Evelyn C. Olson of Springfield; a son Walter J. Janick of Agawam; a daughter Diana Maksymiw of Agawam; three very special people in his life, Christine Olson and Stephen Ceccarini, as well as Michael Perrot II of Agawam; a sister Sarah Galus of West Springfield and her daughter Susan Peterson of Slidell, LA; four grandchildren: Jocelyn Foti and her husband, Chris, of Agawam, Amanda Jerome and her husband, Brian, of Boston, Ashley Gavioli and her husband, Jeff, of Ludlow, and Brooke Quesnel and her fiancé, Daniel, of Newton; and four great grandchildren. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his wife Lidia Tokartschuk, his son Robert T. Janick, his daughter Sharon Quesnel, his brothers Chester and Theodore Janick, and his sisters Helen Sypek and Jenny Rossi. The Family would like to extend a special Thanks to all of his at home caregivers, Wing Memorial Hospital nursing staff in Palmer, Ma and the nursing staff & Hospice at JGS Life Care in Longmeadow, Ma. Family and friends are all invited for a period of visitation from 5:00-7:00pm on Friday, September 16, 2022 at Forastiere Colonial Funeral Home located at 985 Main St. in
Agawam, MA.
