A Reminiscence

YES, thou art gone! and never more
Thy sunny smile shall gladden me;
But I may pass the old church door,
And pace the floor that covers thee.

May stand upon the cold, damp stone,
And think that, frozen, lies below
The lightest heart that I have known,
The kindest I shall ever know.

Yet, though I cannot see thee more,
'Tis still a comfort to have seen;
And though thy transient life is o'er,
'Tis sweet to think that thou hast been;

To think a soul so near divine,
Within a form so angel fair,
United to a heart like thine,
Has gladdened once our humble sphere.

Joey,

My baby brother, one will never know how much they are missed. The emptiness that is felt with in my heart and soul. I can remember all the times that you would call and confide in me. Our little secrets that we said we would take to our graves. I miss the little talks that we shared to pick each other up when we were down. Or having fun and just messing around. I am so happy that we shared time to let each other know how we felt. I miss you bubba, you will always be in my heart. Come visit me when you can. And I know that you can! Tell daddy I love him,miss him, and find my best friend nonna. Tell her I love and miss her too! See you soon or when I cross over to the other side. In the mean time. Love you to pieces....

Lots of love always,

Mary

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

That smile is the first thing I remember about Joey. Soo sorry his time here on earth ended too soon, unexpectantly, and soo young. I also know his heart and soul is everlasting, he is now reunited with his Dad and his Heavenly Father.. and he will be reunited with everyone on that day we all too leave this earth. No man knows the number of his days. My deepest heartfelt condolences to Ann, all of my cousins, friends and family mourning for him now. Time and distance cannot break the bond of our family. I love you all ! Regina Ford Killian

I have so many fond memories of you my sweet cousin Joey! You, Jill, Robin, Karen, my sisters and I would spend hours climbing the trees in your backyard. You always promised
me that you would take care of me and never let me fall. Another memory that I have of you was when you would let me hitch a ride on the back of your bike and we would go buy junk food at the "Sev". (7-11).You were such a wonderful, kind and compassinate person! I really enjoyed my time getting reaquainted with you again through facebook. My thoughts and prayers are with your
wonderful family. Love, Dawn

Victoria and Joseph reminded me that Joey and Tina taught them in Primary. They remember him well.I taught their daughter Molly in the CTR class. Several years back my kitchen caught on fire and when Joey heard about it, he was the only one to offer to fix it. About a year and a half ago, I had a party for my primary class at my house. Although it was raining and Joey said he was tired from working he still picked Molly up so that she was able to attend the party. The last time I saw him was in Sams in August or September 2010. He talked about Brandi,Brittany, and Molly and his two boys. He had lost a lot of weight and looked so good and handsome. This is so hard to believe. To Ann and the entire Jernigan family I send you my deepest sympathy.

Love your cousin, Judy Cowart DiNatale

My best friend and sister Christy, I love you with all my heart. You found the love of your life if only for a moment. Take comfort in knowing his heart was with you and still is. You waited so long for him, it seems so unfair that he was taken from you so soon. We don't know why God does what he does, but we do know that he brought you two together for a reason. You have your very own angel who will be watching over you until you meet again. Kevin sends his love and Jake does not really understand but says "If auntie G00DY is sad she should come here I'll make her laugh." We all love you! When you and mamma are ready we will get together.

For many years thousands of miles have separated us geographically and physically. I knew where you were, Joey, surrounded by family and friends. Periodically, I would come to visit. I hold my family in my heart. I know where you are, what you are doing, who you are with and someday will come to visit once again. I can only imagine the questions you are asking and getting answers to! Bless you, Joey, and Peace be with you. May God's Grace attend you. I pray, also, that peace and understanding will come to those who have loved you, your mother, brothers, sisters, wives, children, aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends. To know you was/is to love you, Sweetheart! I love you and will miss your laughter. Aunt Carol P.S. Please tell my Bubba I said "hello"!
