KRISE – Joseph T., 82, Brick Road, Loretto, died Sept. 9, 2009, at Altoona Hospital. Born Sept. 15, 1926, on Fiske Road, Fallentimber, son of the late David M. and Marie F. (Davis) Krise. Preceded in death by sisters, Mary Vidmar, Florence Conrad and Marguerite Ogiela; and brother, David M. Jr. Survived by wife of 64 years, the former Erdean Potter, whom he married Aug. 28, 1945, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, Frugality; children: Joanne (Charlie Wood), Silver Spring, Md.; Judy (Bob Noel), Cresson; Gloria (the late Jim Kauffman), Greensburg; Denise (Larry Hodson), Aurora, Ohio; Helen (John Donoughe), Brian (Deborah Youngkin) and John (Koreen Hockenberry), all of Loretto; raised nephew, Francis Toften, Colorado Springs, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Brother of Coletta Hudson, Falls Church, Va.; James (Verna Potter), Fallentimber; and Rosalie McElheny, Loretto. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He served in the U.S. Navy Amphibious Force during World War II in Africa, Sicily, Italy and France. He attended Ford Motor Co. Tech School, General Motors and Detroit Transmission – Hydromatic schools, as well as numerous schools sponsored by New Holland Machine Co. being their farm equipment dealer for 25 years. A graduate of Dale Carnegie School Training Class and served as a graduate assistant. Co-owner of Loretto Service Center for 35 years and retired from Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Animal Industry after 20 years of service. Joe enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing, doing various things to help his children and grandchildren, repair hay bailers for area farmers, and he was an avid gun repairman and an expert rifleman. Life member of Loretto Hunting Club, North American Club, NRA, Ashville VFW and Loretto American Legion Post 748, where he was a past post commander. Member of Greenleaf Chapter Dale Carnegie Alumni, Chest Springs Sportsmen and Basilica of St. Michael Catholic Church, Loretto, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Monsignor Timothy Swope, celebrant. Committal, St. Michael Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Gibbons Funeral Home, Ashville, where a vigil service will be held Friday. Military rites in charge of Loretto American Legion, Ashville VFW and other local military organizations. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to St. Michael's School in Joe's memory.
