Joseph Longo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 23, 2023.
Joseph "Joey" Longo, 47, of Bolton, CT, passed away on November 15, 2023. He was born on December 19, 1975, in Springfield, MA, to Gary Mallows and the late Jolena Mallows. He was preceded in death by his brother Austin Mallows.

Known for his vibrant personality and zest for life, Joey lived by the motto, "I'm here for a good time not a long time." He embraced every moment and enjoyed a lively social life. Joey was the life of the party, always ready to have a good time and inviting everyone to join in the fun. He had a remarkable ability to make lifelong friends wherever he went, whether it was at a gas station or a farm. Joey was the go-to person for getting things done, and if he couldn't do it himself, he would always say, "I've got a guy for that."

Joey's front steps were a hub of activity, where he engaged in countless memorable conversations with neighbors and friends. He possessed a quick wit and had an answer for everything. He had a passion for fishing, golfing, and challenging others to rounds of corn hole. Joey also had a mischievous side, often delighting in starting epic fires in his firepit or driving anything motorized around the neighborhood.

Above all, Joey cherished his daughter Gia "Fritz" Longo. He was devoted to her and would do anything to make her happy. Their bond was unbreakable, and Joey's love for his daughter was immeasurable. He also shared a special connection with his 120-pound lap dog, Zeno, who often found comfort snuggling with Joey in the recliner.

Joey is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Deskis; his daughter, Gia Longo; his father, Gary Mallows; his sister, Aimee Young, and her husband, Jessee Young; his brother, Eric Mallows; his sister, Chelsea Mallows; his stepdaughter, Savannah Feeley, and her husband, Jonathan Feeley; his stepson, Kyle Deskis; his grandchildren, Logan, Riley, and Brendan Feeley; his father-in-law, Jim Robbins; his mother-in-law, Gordon and Robin Kinkade; his sister-in-laws, Shannon Robbins, Jerri Lynn Robbins, and Jamie Jurado; and his nephews, Brent Robbins and Nicolas Jurado, and niece, Breanna Jurado. He also leaves behind his lifelong friends, Eric DiAugustino, Jay Orenstein, and Tim Kokidko, who were more like brothers to him.

Joey was the proud owner of Longo Landscape & Design, where he poured his passion into creating beautiful outdoor spaces for his clients.

A graveside service will be held at the Longmeadow Cemetery in Longmeadow, MA, on December 1, 2023, at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center. Donation information is available online.

Joey will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His infectious spirit and larger-than-life personality will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Jen, Gia, Savannah & Kyle - My heart is broken, but thankfully my memories are intact. Nobody wore the "best neighbor ever" badge quite like Joe. Always there with an invitation to hang or a helping hand, truck or tool of some sort to solve a home or landscaping challenge - Joe was our neighborhood do-all who we could count on to have fun while doing it all! His generosity, energy and sarcasm (especially on the Everything Bolton FB page) will be so incredibly missed. I hope that your fondest, funniest memories of Joe enable your hearts to heal with fortitude and warmth as we learn to navigate the rest of this crazy life without him. I love you all.

I grew up with Joey's mom, Jolena Mallows, who was my best friend, and I remember all of the fun times that our children had together. Jolena was so proud of Joey and Aimee and very excited when Gia was born. I, also, remember how much he loved karate and took part in a Karate Exhibit during Longmeadowe Days. He will be extremely missed, and after reading so many beautiful comments about all of the things that he did for others, he will truly leave a legacy for many.

I met Joey when I was still a young kid(18) and he was such an amazing person. Always looked out for me and always cared so much. Love you and will deeply miss you my friend.

Joe (Longo Landscaping) took care of my husband Russ and my lawn for years and when Russ passed he took care of me! I really appreciated him and his friendship. He and Jen brought their baby (now a beautiful young lady) over to play in our kitchen toy drawer. Both Joe and Jen are nice friends to Me. The Lord be with you all
