Joseph Maloney Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 1, 2011.
MALONEY, Joseph Allan March 28, 1941 May 29, 2011 With heavy hearts we say goodbye On Sunday, May 29, 2011, longtime St. Albert resident, Dr. Allan Maloney, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Allan was born in St. Albert in 1941, and spent his youth skating on and swimming in the Sturgeon River, and excelled at playing numerous sports. After graduation from Palmer College of Chiropractic, Allan practiced as a chiropractor in B.C. for several years before returning to his St. Albert roots. From 1986 until his retirement in 2000, he cared for patients at his clinic in Morinville. In retirement, his favorite pastimes included spending time at Lac Ste. Anne with family and friends, card nights, watching Oilers and Eskimo games, and (more than anything) spending time with his kids and grandkids. Allan suffered from severe rheumatoid arthritis for 30 years, but never let it affect his positive spirit. He leaves to treasure his beloved memory, Irene, his loving wife of 43 years; his sons Kevin (Carol), Allan Jr. (Christine), Sean (Laura); six wonderful grandchildren, Griffin, Evan, Erin, Davis, Claire and Whitney; his brother Jack; sisters Margaret Victoor, and Nan (Val) LePage; mother-in-law Clarice Kremer; brothers-in-law Alphonse (Susan) Kremer, Leon Coco Kremer, and Laurier (Joanne) Kremer; sister-in-law Cecile (Robert) LeBlanc; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family, as well as a large group of lifelong friends. Allan was predeceased by his parents William and Annie Maloney, sisters Isabel Wilson and Eileen Vandall, and one nephew Michael Victoor. A Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m 8:00 p.m. on Thursday June 2, 2011 at Connelly-McKinley/Foster and McGarvey Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive in St. Albert A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2011 at Holy Family Parish, 75 Poirier Avenue in St. Albert, officiated by Allans cousin Fr. Don MacDonald ofm, and Allans parish priest Fr. Mitch Fidyka. A special thank you to Allans longtime physician Dr. Glubish, and Dr. Chyczij and the caring medical team at Grey Nuns hospital. In Allans memory, charitable donations may be made to The Arthritis Society, Suite 307, 10109 106 Street, Edmonton, AB T5J 3L7. Dear Irene and Family,
We are so sorry for your loss. Allan was a true inspiration, always full of fun and happiness. His pain never kept him from being a rock for anyone in need, or having a good laugh.
There were many times our families shared fun and laughter. I will never forget taking his advice for the "lemon and olive oil cleanse". Boy, did it work, and we had a good giggle over that.
God must have an assignment and needed a special angel for the job!
Allan will be missed but not forgotten.
Our Love and Prayers to all the family

Irene & family;
I also am saddened that we have not kept in touch although you both have been remembered often. You both were so special in my life. May you be comforted by the memory of that smile that only Allan could flash as he so kindly recognized you as you said hello. I'm sure he is smiling with friends and family in God's presence and probably bowling or playing cards with no pain. God bless you all.

Irene and family:
We've been out of touch for such a long time. Please accept my condolences, on behalf of Joan and myself. Al was such a wonderful friend to me. We launched our "great adventure" together, back in 1965. Then our paths took off in separate directions, and we pretty much lost touch. Al was my closest friend at that point, and a real rock for me. He always flashed that wonderful smile, and nothing seemed to get him down. Absolutely everyone loved Al. So sad to hear of his loss-- the world is a much lesser place without him.
