Joseph Manwarren Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 20, 2007.

GREENSBORO — Joseph "Joe" Bruce Manwarren, 47, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at Moses Cone Hospital. He is with his mother now and is at peace.

A funeral service, celebrating his life, will be conducted 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, at the Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home, Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 High Point Road (336-854-9100) with Greg Bouck, Senior Pastor at New Covenant Wesleyan Church officiating. A private burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park next to his dear deceased mother, Martha Manwarren.

Born on November 21, 1959, in Washington, DC, Joe lived in Greensboro his whole life. He was a Special Olympian, sports enthusiast and music lover. His spirit, kindness, and love of life has influenced his family and friends forever. Joe was a "gentile giant" that could put a smile on your face and warm your heart. He will be missed by a lot of people but most of all by his sister, Judy who will miss him every minute of every day.

Joe is survived by his devoted sister, Judy Rebo and her loving husband; and "brother" to Joe, Joe Rebo. He is also survived by another "sister" who loved him dearly, Joy Lehman.

The family will gather with their friends from 3 until service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Joe had a number of health problems this past year. As a result of that, the family met and "adopted" several caregivers. Words cannot express our thanks and love for these individuals. You touched our lives forever. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Gary Cram. You took care of Joe as if he was your own and we will always remember you. In addition, we sincerely appreciate Dr.'s Pool, Jones, Kritzer, Hickling, and Russo, along with their staffs.

Most important in Joe's care, along with keeping him safe and assisting in recovery, was the 3100 Neuro ICU Unit at Moses Cone Hospital...you gave him your love. The Rebo-Manwarren Family would like to recognize Marlienne Goldin, William "Willie" Ortega, Kimberly Gordon, Letitia Wallace, Lakysha Williams, Samuel Saahene, Ruth Worsham, Jennifer Barnette, Thomas Bailey, Tammy Blackburn, Kimberly Buckholz, Heather Collins, Michael Curtis, Lori Dettmer, Kimberly Kramm, Denise Laib-McKaig, Lisa Patteson, Penny Shelton, Desiree Taylor, Laurie Taylor, Elaine Thielen, John Thomasson, III, Teri Wyatt, Jordana Burchett, Leslie Harber, Charles Etta King, Stephanie Ross, Christianiah Adelowd, Lola Farr, Tyrone Hall, Darrell Cromartie, Catherine Davis, Kapiolani Ola, Callista Jennings, Gaynell Petty, Cynthia Moore, Dorothy Winston, Meredith Gutmann, Jennifer Langely, Devon Lofters, Stacy Tickle, Lois Washburn, Gina Winters, Hyang Yu, Ronda Hunt, Debbie Gregory, Audrey McDade, Debra Stowe, Erika Cox, Diana Smith, Leigh Vaughn, Jill Wilkes.

Also, Mrs. Brenda Gwynn with Graceson Manor, Glenice Bell, Brownlee Bryant, Mike Pascente, and Joy Lehman gave their care, love, friendship to Joe and his family. A warm thank you also to Clapps Nursing Facility and staff for helping with Joe's care, too.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Graceson Manor, P.O. Box 2361, Reidsville, NC 27323 in Joe's Honor. Graceson Manor is a group home that takes care of special people. They lovingly took care of Joe for a brief period of time.

Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home, Sedgefield Chapel, is caring for the funeral arrangements for Joe.

Judy , sorry for your losses. I had the extreme pleasure of teaching Joe on the trampoline at Camp Atlantic where I also met you and your mother. Joe couldn't talk to me but the smile on his face I will never forget when he did well on the trampoline instruction that I was teaching him. He was very proud of his accomplishment. Your mother was equally proud. She sent me a very nice letter and Christmas card the following Christmas. Sincerely, Gene Myrum in Wyoming.

Dear Judy,
I was so saddened to hear of Joe's passing. I also express my sympathies in the loss of your mother. The love you and your mother gave to Joe was a model for all of us who grew up with you to live by. I have fond memories of you and Joe entertaining everyone at the pool and at Smith ballgames. Your sense of humor was infectious. I don't know of a more dedicated, loving sister than you. Please give my regards to Joy.
God Bless You,

Judy-
I was sorry to hear of the news of Joe's passing, but my heart rejoices that he is now at peace. He was so fortunate to have such a loving, caring, sister to look after him all of these years. I know you will miss him. Although I only knew Joe a very short time, I fell in love with his sweet spirit and looked forward to visiting with him everyday.
Take care and God bless you and your family,
