MAURO JOSEPH
Age 93 years, formerly of Monroeville, Pennsylvania, went home peacefully in hospice at Brookdale Senior Living in Troy, Michigan on Sunday, August 25, 2013, where he had been a resident for the past 2-1/2 years. Joseph was born on January 14, 1920 in Pittsburgh, PA to Angelina (Mastandrea) Mauro and Antonio Mauro. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Anna Louise (Leeds) Mauro. He is survived by his children, Joseph A. and Peggy (Pugsley) Mauro currently of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Dianne N. (Mauro) Seitz McDade, currently of North Jackson, OH, and Joseph M. and Karen L. (Mauro) Funyak currently of Rochester Hills, MI. Also survived by seven grandchildren, Warren W. Seitz of North Jackson, OH, Jack J. Seitz of North Jackson, OH, Joseph S. and Susan Mauro of London, U.K., Brad C. and Kristin Mauro of Davis, CA, Omar and Larissa L. (Funyak) Dahroug of Oakland, CA, Timothy D. and Rachel M. (Funyak) Nolan of Pittsburgh, PA, and Jason M. and Mary Beth (Funyak) Donovan of Pittsburgh, PA. Also survived by eight great-grandchildren, Carren Seitz, John Seitz, Mackenzie Mauro, Parker Mauro, Joseph T. Mauro, Brady Mauro, Tate Mauro, and Daniel P. Nolan. Also survived by siblings, Albert and Audrey Mauro, and Eleanor Urick; sister-in-law, Rose Marie Lawrence and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Joseph was a faithful and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a decorated WWII veteran with numerous medals including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart earned during the Battle of the Bulge. He was a farmer at heart, and retired from the Union Railroad Company where he was a locomotive engineer for over 30 years. Friends received at the GENE H. CORL INC. Visitation Friday, August 30, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Rosary Service will be held on Friday 2:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernadette Roman Catholic Church, 245 Azalea Drive, Monroeville, followed by interment at Good Shepherd Cemetery.
