Joseph F. "Joe" McCann

Joseph F. "Joe" McCann, age 92, passed away on April 20, 2020 at his residence, The Philadelphia Protestant Home. He was born in Philadelphia, PA. He was the son of the late Henry and Helen McCann. Joe was the beloved father of Alma Mandato (her husband Tom), Elaine Jones (her husband Rich), Joanne Cuffey, Gregory McCann, Steven McCann (his wife Ann). He will be sadly missed by his many grandchildren, great grandchildren and the late Violet Tolton's family, his sisters Kathleen Hensel, Claire Anderson, Suzanne Coyle, Geraldine Vetter and their spouses, his brothers John and Larry McCann, his many nieces and nephews, and by all who knew him. Joe was preceded in death by his former wife Anna, his son Michael, his sisters: Mary Schroth, Margaret Bibby, Helen (Aunt Sissy) Chriswell, Anne (Aunt Nancy) Callahan Bentley, his brothers: Henry E. McCann, James McCann, Henry P. McCann, Thomas McCann, and Patrick McCann. Violet Tolton, his longtime companion, has departed since Joe's passing. Joe was a retired dispatcher for the Bickley Express Trucking Co. where he worked for over 40 years. He proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII. He loved life and enjoyed bowling, playing golf and watching baseball, especially "The Phillies". Joe was creative with arts and crafts and was always making things. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. Relatives and Friends are invited to Joe's Life Celebration Saturday, October 30, 2021, 9:30 to 11:00 am at St. Anne's Catholic Church 2328 E. Lehigh Ave Philadelphia, PA 19125 followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. His Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery 3301 W.
