Charlotte, North Carolina - Marie Brown Van Art, 73, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Southminster. She was born on September 15, 1949, in Charleston, SC to Darrel E. Brown and Naomi Hall Brown.
Marie had been a resident of the Charlotte area for the past 40 years. While her children were young Marie worked in the home. However, in more recent years she worked in various capacities for her church as well as caring for other's children in her home. Marie was a strong Christian with a deep faith in God. She was a member of Calvary Church in Charlotte.
Marie is survived by her children, Chris Van Art and Amy Honey; her grandchildren and great- grandchild, Addison Neff, Austen Neff, Adam Honey, Madelyn Honey, Lydia Honey, Hallie Van Art, Lindsay Van Art, Avery Van Art and Greyson Neff. Also surviving are her sisters, Phyllis B. Shaw of South Carolina, Karen A. Brown of Georgia and numerous nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by brother, Leon Brown and daughter, Allison Van Art Neff.
The family will have a private memorial at a future date.
