Age 52, unexpectedly on Sunday, May 7, 2017, of Whitehall, formerly of Virginia and Brentwood. Loving brother of Larry (Linda) Michalski and Linda Lazenga; beloved uncle of L.J. (Liz) and Jacob Michalski and Adam and Taylor Lazenga; great-uncle of Benjamin; beloved companion of Tosh and the late Bowser; also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Friends will be received at the JOHN F. SLATER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood, 15227, Tuesday, May 16, 2017, 4-8 p.m. Funeral service will be private. I never had the privilege of meeting Joe but my sister Amy was his next door neighbor. She greatly appreciated his help and treasured his friendship. I am very sorry for your loss.

My deepest condolences to Joe's family. I met him when we both went to Pitt, and we instantly became friends. Joe had a captivating smile that could light up a room. While our lives went in different directions, I never forgot Joe, and because of him, I look back on that time with fond memories. God bless you!

My friend.... I wish you peace knowing you are in the arms of God guiding you to your family who passed before you. You were a kind soul who enjoyed life. You Have left lasting memories for me and my husband Tom Rusinowski for a lifetime. We will miss you for ever.
