Joseph F. Moritz, age 66, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2013 at 4:40 PM at his residence in Rural LaFayette from pancreatic cancer. He was born on June 20, 1947 in Lima, Ohio to Donald J. and W. Jean (Zimmer) Moritz, his father survives in Lima and his mother preceded him in death. He married Leola F. (Davis) Moritz on April 12, 1969, they were married for 44 years and she survives in Rural LaFayette. Joe worked in various management positions for Ford Motor Company- Lima Engine Plant for 33 years, retiring in 2001. He graduated from LaFayette-Jackson High School in 1965 and he started his college education at The Ohio State University and continued on to receive a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Ohio Northern University in 1982. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, hunting for mushrooms, making maple syrup and other activities on the family farm. He especially loved traveling throughout the country with his wife, Lee, and spending time with his family. He was also actively involved in Boy Scouts of America as a scout and later on as a Scoutmaster and lifelong member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. The family of Joseph Fredrick Moritz wishes to thank The James Cancer Institute for the care he received. Also surviving are two sons: Robert J. (Shawnna) Moritz of Indianapolis, IN. and Richard J. (Dara) Moritz of Lima; seven grandchildren: Abigail, Alexander, Avery, Addison, Joshua, Ashlyn and Ella Moritz; a sister, Jane E. (Robert) Williams of Harrod; many nieces and nephews and other family and friends. Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Jean Moritz and a special niece Kelly Clum. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 8, 2013 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 209 W. North Street, Lima with Pastor Michael Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Ward Cemetery, Lima. Friends may call 2:00-6:00 PM on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Lima.
