To the Nee family: I was stunned and so sorry to hear about Joey's passing. I first met Joey when he was in my 8th grade computer class at Furnace Brook Middle School. Joey would tell me stories of his hometown of South Boston that resonate with me to this day. Joey grew to be an exceptional young man, devoted to his family, friends and his Irish heritage. He was blessed with an amazing Irish wit and gift for writing and storytelling that only the true Irish possess. He was a proud, loving, funny, courageous, intensely loyal man and he was a gift to his family and friends. Joey will be sorely missed by his wonderful, large, and loving Irish family and by all of us who were fortunate enough to call Joey Nee a friend.

Joe was one of my students at the High School. We had a good relationship. We had frequent chats and I even gave him a ride home after school. He was forthcoming and always genuine. I'm still in shock and heartbroken over Joe's passing. He was one of the sweetest friends I could've ever asked for. From poking fun at each other, to (trying) to teach him how to dance in 9th grade, to talking about what the future held for the both of us and how we'd be friends forever, "Joey Jojo" always brought me so much happiness. He truly was one of the best and I'll miss him forever. My deepest and most sincere condolences to the Nee family and Jamie. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

I've known Joe and his family since they moved into Marshfield. He was like my older brother. He was a beautiful soul and always has been. When I was depressed, Joe was always the first one to call. Between Joe and Sully, the two saved my life. My Freshman year of college I was so alone and isolated, Joe made sure to call me every day to make sure I was ok or just listen to me cry. Thank you Joe for saving my life. You will forever be in my heard brother. From church as babies to raves as adults, you have always been there for me. Until we meet again my love <3
