Joseph M. Oravec
Joseph M. Oravec, 94, of Bethlehem, died on Friday, January 18, 2013. Born in Bethlehem on September 10, 1918, he was the son of the late Steven and Johanna (Check) Oravec. He was the loving husband of the late Elizabeth (Mitch) Oravec who died in 2012, they were married 70 years. Joe was the owner and operator of Oravecs Grocery and Meat Market for many years. He was a member of Incarnation of Our Lord Parish, of the Holy Name Society, and served as President of the Lincoln Fire Company Auxiliary. Survivors: He will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Joseph A. and wife, Patricia of Bethlehem and Denis and wife, Joann of Warrington, PA; daughters, Terese Fischer and husband, Raymond of Bethlehem and Cecelia Oravec of Easton; grandchildren, Joseph, Thomas, Lauren, Alexander, Joan Marie, Richard Jr., Judith, James and Christopher; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Stephen, Andy, Charlie and George; and sister, Mary Laubach. Services: Arrangements have been entrusted to Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, where viewing hours will be held on Tuesday, January 22nd from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday in the church from 9 to 10 a.m. A 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday in the Incarnation of Our Lord Church, 617 Pierce St., Bethlehem, 18015. Interment will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. Contributions: Memorials may be made to the church or Alzheimers Disease Research, 399 Market St., Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106. So sorry to hear of his passing, my condolences to the whole family. Growing up in the neighborhood, I just about lived in the store at least 100 times a day..lol, He was always so nice to us and watched out for us, one of the legacys gone on the south side.
