Prochaska, Joseph Joe ProJoseph Prochaska of Orlando, Fl passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2016. He was 68. Joe grew up in Orlando and was well known within the College Park community. After graduation from the University of Florida, he entered Western Conservative Baptist Seminary and later received a PhD in Theology from the California Graduate School of Theology. He then returned to Orlando. He was a beloved teacher at Robert E. Lee Middle School and Edgewater High School of which he was also a devoted alumnus. Joe was known by his students as "Dr. Pro". All who knew Joe appreciated his animated personality, wit and indefatigable spirit of life. He will, among his friends, be regarded as an unforgettable person. He may not have appeared serious about many matters but he was always serious about his faith in Jesus Christ. Joe is survived by his wife, Brenda Prochaska; his son, Bard Prochaska and wife Abi Locatis Prochaska and daughter Hedda Prochaska; his brothers, Rick and Steve Prochaska; as well as many nieces and nephews. Dr. Pro was a quirky man, but it was this nature that helped make my day-to-day routine through Edgewater High School a more pleasant one during some of the roughest years of my life.

One of the last classes I had for the days, he always loved to call out my last name just because he could. He'd do things like joke on about the One-Horned One-Eyed Flying Purple People Eaters, or the Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, and it flew over all our heads, but it was something for me to get a chuckle at during the days. Didn't really care what you did in his class as long as the work was done and nobody was causing any disruptions.

At only 68 years young, he passed away far, far too soon. A truly unique and caring person, I couldn't have asked for a better teacher.

My deepest condolences to the grieving family.

Dear Brenda and family,

Joe Pro was a true free spirit and an inspiration to all! I had the honor of teaching with Joe for over twenty five years at Lee and Edgewater combined. Students and staff were endgaged in lively banter from Dr. Pro daily and he enriched our lives.

Thank you for sharing this amazing man who always had a happy word for those he encountered on his daily jonts about school and College Park!

JoePro was easily my favorite teacher I ever had. His last for history was infectious to anyone in his class. He got me interested in other cultures and their history. I am heart broken with your families loss, and will be praying for you.
