Edward Cawley Obituary

Retired Civil Service MARTINEZ, Ga. - Entered into rest on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Doctors Hospital. Mr. Edward Dent Cawley, husband of the late Ruby Jenkins Cawley. Other family members include his son: Donald Edward Cawley; grandchildren: Ashley C. Young and husband Michael, Travis Edward Cawley and wife Corena, Tammie C. Jennings and husband Patrick, J. Phillip Buck Jr., Stefanie Basinger and husband Todd; sixteen great-grandchildren and many others that called him grandpa; brothers: Robert A. Cawley and wife Martha, the late C. Howard Cawley and wife Jeanette; sister: Vera C. Walker and husband Pete. Mr. Cawley was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After the war he began a career with the Civil Service at the Augusta Arsenal and retired from Civil Service at Fort Gordon. He was a lifelong member of Mize Memorial United Methodist Church and a member of the Cawley Bible Class. He also belonged to the Hill Baptist Fellowship Club, Trinity on the Hill Prime Time and the McDonalds Breakfast Group. He was a member of the John S. Davidson Lodge for over 50 years. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Thomas Poteet with Rev. Fred Heard officiating. Pallbearers will be Travis Cawley, Michael Young, Patrick Jennings, J. Phillip Buck Jr., Todd Basinger, Lloyd Malcom, Kenny Kinsey. Honorary pallbearers will be the Cawley Sunday School Class at Mize Memorial. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Mize Memorial United Methodist Church: 302 Barrow Dr. Augusta, GA. 30906.
