Joseph Rabadeau Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 20 to Feb. 21, 2022.
Dedicated father; loved spending time with his family and friends Joseph P. Rabadeau , 65, died after a brief battle with Covid-19 on February 18, 2022. Joe leaves behind his sons Brian and Jake, his brother Jerry, sister Mary Rabadeau, his nephew Russ Rabadeau and niece Lauren Bollinger and 2 grand nieces and 2 grand nephews. Joe was born in Elizabeth, NJ and attended Blessed Sacrament Grammar School and St. Patrick's High School. He followed in his father Buddy's footsteps when he served as Captain of the storied basketball team at St. Patrick's. Joe moved to Fanwood, NJ and raised his family there. He started his own company, All American Fence in Scotch Plains and would proudly point out all the work he did all over Union County and beyond. He was a dedicated father to his two sons, coaching their basketball teams and enjoyed attending baseball, football and basketball games with them. His passions weren't limited to sports, he also loved attending live music venues and comedy shows, even turning up on stage on occasion. If you met Joe, you knew him. He wore his heart on his sleeve. Joe wasn't shy and told you exactly what he thought. He was passionate about helping other people and he helped countless people with addiction issues. Growing up, he rode his unicycle down 18th Avenue to the Belmar beach while carrying his surfboard. Later in life he drove his big red truck down and surfed at the same beach as an adult. He loved the New York Jets, The Grateful Dead, and spending time with his family and friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 23rd from 4-8pm at Higgins and Bonner in Westfield. The funeral will be Thursday, February 24th at 10am at St. Helen's in Westfield. We ask that all those in attendances please wear masks. In lieu flowers, please send donation to Benedictine Sisters of Elizabeth. Higgins & Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home 582 Springfield Ave. Westfield, NJ 07090 (908) 789-7400

Sorry to hear of Joe´s passing. He was a gentle soul. I am his cousin, 10 years younger, but he along with Raymond and Billy were always very gracious with their time with me as a child when my family visited Aunt Florence´s house and they were also there. RIP Joe,

I spent two days in a row with Joe several months ago when he and I moved equipment from our warehouse in Westfield to a new warehouse in Roselle Park -- I got to know him reasonably well.

We had conversation on a considerable variety of topics -- not the least of which involved his family heritage with a relative well-known at the time who set up a trading post with trappers in the mid-West.

We also had a conversation as to how vital it is to have the Lord Jesus Christ as a personal Savior.

My much sympathy to the family.

I am so very sorry for your loss. As a neighbor of Joe´s in Westfield I am feeling the loss as well. Such a great guy and friend- a kinder person I have never known!! I had the best chats with him always leaving our conversations feeling happier for having it. He loved my dog & she loved him- always ran to him. She´s a beagle with a loud howl but he always said whenever he heard her, he´d laugh. He was kind enough to secure our yard with a fence to keep her from running away. I´m gonna miss seeing him and knowing I had such a great friend just across the street!
