Of Lake Forest, IL, passed away November 7, 2006. He was the second child of Frances Jane Burr and Joseph Eugene Raudabaugh. He was born on his father's birthday, July 26, 1907 in Blackhawk County, Iowa. He was raised on a farm. He earned both his bachelors and masters degrees from Iowa State University. Neil served as a school superintendent and taught vocational agriculture in Iowa public schools. In WWII, he served in the South Pacific as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy and taught naval science at the University of Washington until the end of the war in 1945. He worked for the Veterans Administration before joining the Agricultural Extension Service Staff at Iowa State University in 1947. In 1955, Neil joined the Eisenhower administraition, serving as Director of the Division of Research and Education, Federal Extension Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture in Washington, DC, until his retirement in 1977. He co-authored the popular text, "Leadership and Dynamic Group Action", now translated into more than fifteen languages. In retirement, Neil pursued his interests as a consultant and teacher both in the US and abroad. He served on the Session of the Presbyterian in Church, was active in Kiwanis, and avidly pursued his passion for roses, family and friends. Neil is survived by his wife, Pauline of 66 years; two sons, John (Susan) and Joe (Beverly); daughter, Marsha (Guy) Mueller; and five grandchildren, Emily, Melissa, Joey, Rebecca and James. A memorial service was held on Friday, November 10, 2006 in the Vail Room at Like Forest Place, in Lake Forest, Illinois. Interment privately held November 11, 2006 in Genesco, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Nuestro Center, Neil Raudabaugh Memorial Fund, North Shore Estates, 624 Sheridan Rd, #1B, Highwood, IL 60040.
