Joseph John Rickard

Joseph John Rickard, 77, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2024, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Born on December 19, 1946, in Honolulu, Hawaii, Joseph lived a life marked by quiet strength, deep faith, and unwavering devotion to his family.

A proud graduate of James B Intermediate and High School in Kane'ohe, Joseph pursued his passion for automobiles early on by taking mechanics classes at Roosevelt High School. His natural talent for mechanics became one of his lifelong vocations. Over the years, he worked diligently at several respected establishments including Modern Top & Upholstery Shop and The Chinese Bazaar in Honolulu; Associated Steel in Honolulu, Maui, and Las Vegas; where he later retired from in the early 2000 and later at Team Ford Dealership in Las Vegas. Known for his work ethics as a steel worker and mechanical skills in fixing his own cars and bikes, Joseph was admired by colleagues and friends alike.

Joseph was a man of few words but immense heart. He was a staunch Christian who devoted his life to Jesus Christ and found great joy in reading his Bible. His faith guided every aspect of his life and served as a foundation for the love he shared with those around him.

He cherished time spent riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and playing with the family dogs-simple pleasures that brought him peace and happiness. Above all else, Joseph loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with all his heart. He was a devoted husband to Cassandra (Glendon) Rickard and a loving father to Staci Melia (Mike) Kapeliela, Ella Girl Rickard, Steven Kanoa (Renee) Rickard, Benjamin (Chanelle) Rickard, Brandon (Kelly) Rickard, and the late Jason Mathias. His legacy continues through his 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Joseph is also remembered fondly by his brother Edmund Rickard as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who were touched by his kindness and humility. He was predeceased by his parents Harold Stephan Rickard of Maui and Bernice Kekipikamakahukilani Rickard; sister Evalorn Cauton; brother Earlden Rickard; son Jason Mathias; and granddaughter Kamalani.

Those who knew Joseph will remember him as a hard worker who provided selflessly for those he loved. He rarely spoke ill of anyone and embraced each day with gratitude. His quiet presence left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The spreading of Joseph's ashes will be held privately with family at a later date.
