We have passed through each others lives a handful of times since parting ways after highschool. When I heard of your passing, I felt you Joe, I imagined you, not one conversation we had will be forgotten, i still appreciate our poems back n forth when we couldn't find the words to say out loud, about life, love, laughter, pain, addiction, the past n the future. Your feelings and your impact on me will always hold a special place in my heart, you know that. Thank you for being you, you would put a smile on a strangers face before finding one for yourself. Your beyond strong and brave, and I hope you can finally rest your soul, and get a good sleep, you deserve it. I'm having a hard time saying good bye, so when I figure it out, I'll write it out for you. ~MLA~

My heart goes out to all those that knew Joe. For his friends and family. He was such a wonderful man. Have fond memories even though time had seen us go our own ways. He would always say hi and ask How I was doing when ever we would pass on the street. Always promising to have a coffee, we never did. Now I wish we had had those moments. Well Joe, there is always 1997 hmmm? Say Hi to our friends up there that made it before us. Rest in peace Joe, you will be missed.

Sending condolences from Merritt. I always enjoyed visits with Joseph in my office downtown. He was positive, optimistic and grateful for all things good despite his struggles. Always respectful, thoughtful and a very proud dad. I was hopeful that things would turn out differently for him because of his kind soul. Merritt will miss him. Love and light to his family and friends.
