Joseph William Severin

With heavy hearts we share with you the passing of an amazing soul who after an extensive battle with mental illness and addiction has finally found peace for his weary soul and the angels ushered him home.
Joey was always a sensitive caring human in his youth he lived quite a spectacular existence, by which I mean no matter what life was throwing at him he excelled and persevered an athlete, scholar and community builder. Then came the one trauma that was the catalyst for the emergence of his mental illness and journey into addiction, he lost his father. It's grip so strong and the battle so fierce his maker decided his suffering must end and brought him home.
Although we are broken for our loss we find solace in his passing as we know he is now at peace free from all pain and surrounded by loved ones.
Joey was predeceased by his father, Joe Severin, his grandparents Ambrose/Julia Fodor & Anna Severin. Left here to carry-on and raise awareness Joey leaves two perfect daughters he truly loved with all of his heart and even though his path in life was not one they could walk with him on. CJ Russo and Shanna Dodman you are all the best of him ... he wants nothing more for than you to love yourselves and be happy and healthy.
Also grieving Joey's loss is his loving mother and stepfather Marie/David Boniface. May you find peace for he knew you loved him so, no mother should have to say goodbye to their child, strength be yours.
Joey's siblings Tamilyn(Wes) & Rick Severin ,David (Megan) and Rayna (Brian) Boniface will hold the happy memories dear to them wishing him love and healing always.
His tree also includes nieces and nephews Clayton, David & Abel Severin, Brandon & Kayla Ringer, Michaela & Michael Boniface, numerous Aunties, Uncles, cousins, friends. As well as all those he met thru his travels who he touched through his kindness.
Although Joey was born in Calgary and raised in Kelowna, he spent a large part of his later years in Merritt BC. He felt safe accepted and loved there, the family extends their sincere gratitude to the city community services, his church, his peers and friends. Thank you for being his home.
Lastly but definitely not least, to the amazing, loving Animal Control lady Elizabeth Biggs whose compassion and love for Joey's loyal loving dog Mika during the initial days were a godsend ...and we are so grateful. Mika has found her new forever home and will be cherished.
