Dr. Joseph Adrian Slezak, MD, 86 of Keefer Road, Connellsville, passed away peacefully, Saturday evening, April 1, 2023, at Latrobe Select Specialty Hospital, in the presence of his loving family. He was born March 8, 1937, in McKeesport, the son of the late Francis C. and Marie G. Messher Slezak. Dr. Slezak was a devout Catholic and member of St. Pius X R.C. Church, Mt. Pleasant. He was a graduate of Charleroi High School, Class of 1955, also a graduate of Washington-Jefferson College 1959 and Jefferson Medical School in 1963. He practiced as an OBGYN at Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, Connellsville Hospital and Westmoreland Hospital with 33 years of expertise and through those years, he proudly delivered over 6,000 children, who were all his pride and joy. He was a veteran of the Air Force and served with the 855 Medical Group from July 1964 to July 1966 during the Vietnam War, while obtaining the rank of captain. Dr. Slezak is gone from our lives, but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him: his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Georgia Nicholson Slezak, whom he married Nov. 22, 1962; his loving and caring children, Capt. USN Ret. Eric Slezak and wife, Joy, of Connellsville, Judy Slezak-Moin, of Sterling, Va., Job A. Slezak and wife, Bonnie, of Connellsville, and Daniel Slezak, of Mt. Pleasant; his grandchildren, Christopher Moin, of Richmond, Va., Brian Harr and wife, Cyndee, of Fairchance, Jennifer Forrest and husband, Clint, of Gap, Kyle Caravalho, of Newport News, Va., Caitlyn Slezak, of Youngwood, Ella Slezak, of Connellsville, and Joseph Slezak, of Connellsville; his three great-grandchildren, Brianna Kassouf, Cecil Gabriel Harr and Jesse Forrest; and his one great-great-grandchild, Lane Kassouf. In honoring the wishes of Dr. Slezak, a public funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at St. Pius X R.C. church, Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. Daniel Carr as Celebrant and Father John A. Sedlak as Concelebrant. Interment will be held with military honors at the Cemetery of the Alleghenies at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Bullskin Township Fire Hall with lunch and refreshments to be served. Dr. Slezak's final arrangements have been entrusted to the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., Scottdale. Job, Bonnie and Mrs. Slezak, I saw the doctors obituary and am so sad. He was the best doctor I ever had. So caring and such a good friend. He will be greatly missed. I credit him for the 3 beautiful children we have. My heart goes out to you and your family.
