Joseph Soboleski Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 11, 2024.
Holly Springs - Joseph D. Soboleski, 76, passed away at home on Tuesday, December 10th, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on January 6, 1948, in Erie, Pennsylvania to Frank and Betty Soboleski. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Debbie; son Brent Soboleski (Lori) and daughter Renee Brown. Joe is also blessed by 3 beloved grandchildren: Riley Soboleski and Van and Drew Brown. Joe is survived by his 5 siblings: Frank; Tom (Linda); Carol Williams; Betty Coughlin (Dennis); and twin-brother John (Sharon); along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

Joe graduated from McDowell High School in 1966 and served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Joe was honorably discharged in May 1969. Joe was a "jack-of-all-trades". Joe has worked in construction, IT, and radio sales, but spent the majority of his career in automotive sales, managing, and finance.

Joe loved his family and friends and loved to make people laugh. He could be seen walking the neighborhood in a Santa costume on Christmas Day or wearing a gorilla suit on Halloween. Joe was always the first to arrive to a party and always the first to leave. When not with family and friends, you could find Joe on his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Joe will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery, where full military honors will be rendered. The family will have a Celebration of Life for Joe in the coming year.

Although Joe is gone, he will live in our hearts forever.

I first met Joe back in 2010 when we were both selling cars. He was always a man full of life and laughter who always just saw the bright side of any situation. He was also (and without effort) the sales leader almost every month. I believe he sold so many not because of trained sales techniques, but only because people liked him. In retirement he and I went to the Top Fuel drags in Charlotte, numerous car shows, a dolphin cruise (which we always laughed about for years) and numerous times for only a couple late afternoon beers. He would call me all the time with jokes and we (he especially) would laugh till it hurt. He was a good man....a very good man whom I will dearly miss. He loved his wife deeply and his children and grandkids. I will never forget his laugh and love for life.

A memory I would like to share is a time when I was around 10yrs old and I spent some of my summer vacation visiting Uncle Joe and Aunt Debbie, that's when they lived above their Tuxedo Store. I remember one time us playing music and dancing in the living room and all of a sudden one of my jams came on and I started doing the " Robot!" Uncle Joe stood there and I could see by his reaction that he was amazed/impressed and proud of me all at once by my moves/skills, I could see that by his huge smile and that joyful laugh he had as he and Aunt Debbie watched. Uncle Joe helped build my confidence back then when I surely needed it most! Im sure he probably never knew that. So I would like to thank you now Uncle Joe for that specail memory and huge boost of confidence you gave to me. I will forever hold on to that great memory .

Meeting him many years ago for the first time at Aunt Pam´s house where Debbie, Toni and I were staying for some summer vacation. His love and passion for music was a big part of the conversation and fun but the best thing was the immediate sparks that flew from Joe to Debbie who lit up like a Christmas tree when he was around making us laugh and playing his favorite rock and roll.
