Joseph Solomey CONCORD Joseph Francis Solomey, 93, of Concord, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Universal Healthcare Center. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord Friday, June 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial, officiated by Father Joseph Dionne, will be held at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 139 Manor Ave. SW, Concord NC 28025, Saturday, June 22, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the church cemetery, 2323 Gold Hill Rd., Concord, NC 28025. Mr. Solomey was born Dec. 3, 1919, to the late Joseph and Mary Solomey in Allegheny, Pa. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Sprock, Anna Fath, Helen Hughes, and Susan Petrunick. He worked many years as a Freight Car Repairman working for Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad. From 1964 to 1980 he was a Committeeman, Executive Board Member and Recording Secretary for Local 1427 Transport Workers Union of America in McKees Rocks, Pa. He was also the President of Little League of McKees Rocks, Pa., for many years Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Steffie Solomey, of the home; two sons, Joseph Solomey and wife, Linda, of Fredricksburg, Va. and Nick Solomey and wife, Anna, of Wichita, Kans.; two daughters, Sandra Brosek and husband, Gregory, of Concord and Joy Singleton, of Clover, S.C.; eight grandchildren, Gregory Brosek, David Singleton, Jennifer Brosek, Amanda Singleton, Dayna Solomey, Andrew Solomey, Lisa Solomey and Cameo Solomey. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Solomey family.
