Joseph Speziale

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Joseph Speziale, 84, at McCausland Hospital on March 17th following a long period of declining health. Joe was born on August 28, 1928 in Siderno, Italy. He immigrated to Schreiber in 1939 with his family and quickly embraced the Canadian way of life. Joe later met and married Ida Rose (née Diano) and together they happily raised their children Rosann (Pavalo) Pellegrino, Donald (Karen), Lawrence (Gerry), and Robert (Sylvia). Always a man of strong values, Joe was respected and well known by friends and family for eagerly lending a helping hand in whatever way possible. Joe had a wonderful sense of humor, a dignified manner and was always up for a game of cribbage. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed singing in the Holy Angels Church choir for many years. Until his retirement, Joe was employed by Spadoni Bros. as a salesclerk and appliance repairman. He enjoyed working with his hands, creating and fixing furniture and electronics in his spare time. Before he fell ill, Joe looked forward to traveling south for the winters with his wife and family. Joe will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 57 years, Ida (Rose), grandchildren Lesley (Phil) Berardi, Joseph, Robynn, Krista (Shalvin) Ramlu, David (Tiffany), Allison, Gregory, Marcus, Evan, Olivia, Ryan and Erik and by his great-grandchildren Alessia and Nadia. Also survived by brothers Peter (Tina), Frank (Stella), Tony (Beulah), and Giovanni (Audree) and sisters Mary Costa and Teresa (Giovanni) Trichilo.Joe is predeceased by his precious infant son David, parents Cosimo and Rosa, his brother Vincenzo (Jim), parents-in-law Dominic and Maria Diano, brothers-in-law Lorenzo Diano and Guiseppi Costa, sisters-in-law Josephine Trichilo and Rita Speziale.Family and friends will be received at KING'S FUNERAL HOME for prayers at 7:30pm on Wednesday, March 20th. A Resurrection Mass will be held at Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, March 21 at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow at the Schreiber Recreation Centre.
