Joseph G. Stepanski

Joseph G. Stepanski, 85, of South Weymouth, formerly of North Easton, died Tuesday morning January 8, 2013, peacefully at his home with family by his side. Born in North Easton, on December 11, 1927, a son of the late Anthony and Stephanie (Kutonis) Stepanski, he was raised and attended school in North Easton. Joseph was a WWII Navy veteran serving as Seaman First Class onboard the U.S.S. Charles H. Roan from which he was Honorably Discharged on November 27, 1947 and was presented a WWII Victory Medal. Joseph enjoyed a 30 year career as a patrolman with the Easton Police Department from March of 1957 until his retirement in June of 1987. Joe was a member of the Easton Police Association and a longtime active member of the Easton Rod and Gun Club serving as recording secretary for many years. Joe was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed a variety of activities including hunting and fishing. He also had a passion for vegetable gardening and developed an appreciation of woodworking. Joe enjoyed numerous hunting and fishing expeditions traveling to many states throughout his lifetime. Joseph is survived by his two sons, Joseph G. Stepanski, Jr. and James W. Stepanski. He also leaves his longtime companion, of more than 27 years, Roberta Grady of South Weymouth and her five daughters. Joseph is preceded in death by his two brothers, Stanley Stepanski of Easton and Walter Stepanski of Stoughton.
