Joseph Michael Van Hecke, 26, of Sweetwater, Tenn., formerly of Davenport, Iowa, passed away from a car accident on Friday, April 20, 2007.
He was a 1999 graduate of Loudon High School and relocated to Sweetwater in 2002 where they bought a house. Joe enjoyed playing basketball and fishing. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Michael Van Hecke, grandfather, Ned Ward, and sisters, Wanda and Amanda Lane. Survivors include his wife, Amy Pond Van Hecke; parents, Linda and Kenny Lane, of Loudon, Tenn.; sister, Wendy Borland, Fort Campbell, Ky.; grandparents, Helen (Mimi) Ward and Bob and Joan Van Hecke, and aunt, Shirley Watkinson, all of Davenport; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members. There will be a memorial service at noon Sunday, May 6, 2007, at the Word Tabernacle Church, 2202 West 4th St., on the corner of 4th and Pine Streets in Davenport.

Joe and I were good friends when he lived in Blue Grass, IA.. I was his neighbor up the hill from him and we used to hang out all the time. I am dearly sorry for your loss and all of my blessings are with you and your family.
