Joseph Vogt Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 25, 2015.
Joseph (Joe) Adam Vogt was born January 9, 1951 in New Haven, Connecticut to Robert and Dorothy Vogt. He passed away peacefully at his home, in Swanzey, NH, on Sunday, November 22, 2015.
He grew up in Clinton and married his high school sweetheart Gloria (Jones) Vogt. He served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War as an aircraft mechanic from December 3, 1968 until the completion of his military commitment on December 1, 1972.
Joe is survived by; his wife Gloria whom he married on June 12, 1971, his mother Dorothy Vogt, three daughters and a son. Heidi and her husband Rick Benavides of Texas, April and her husband Gary Perreault of Connecticut, Rachel Vogt of New Hampshire, and son Shane and wife Elizabeth Waters of Florida. Also, six beautiful grandchildren; Ramon Benavides (RJ), Brianna Benavides, Coral Perreault, Zachary Perreault, and Eliza & Makayla Harwood. His sister Patty and her husband Les McIntyre of Maine, three brothers Robert Vogt and his fiancé Jo-Ann Drogue of Connecticut, Thomas Vogt and his wife Nancy of Connecticut, John Vogt and his wife Debbie of Connecticut, along with many other nieces, nephews, and tons of other family and friends. Joe was predeceased by his father Robert Vogt.
Joe lived for each and every day. He always had a great story to tell and was the life of the party. He was an avid outdoor sportsman who loved to fly float planes in the Canadian Tundra and hunt Caribou. He played the banjo and enjoyed the simple life. Once during the holidays, Joe chopped a Charlie Brown tree for his family to decorate. His daughters were upset because of the sparseness of the tree, so he creatively rectified the situation by drilling in more branches to that Christmas tree. He always did everything for his children.
Joe also loved the Republican Party. God bless him, as this will thankfully be one less vote for Donald Trump in the presidential election.
Joe would not want anyone to be sad for him; he would want his friends and family to celebrate his life. Please feel free to join us on Saturday, November 28th, 2015 at Papagallos Restaurant in Keene, NH from 12 to 4 pm in celebration of his life. Any pictures of Joe and a good story would be appreciated at his celebration.
In summary, he was an amazing soul who is now enjoying perfect health and will be with us in spirit. Until we meet again…….know your wife, daughters, family, and friends love you a lot and are going to miss you immeasurably.

Gloria, I am so saddened to hear of Joe's passing. Although I had not seen Joe since high school, I thought of him often over the years, and remember him as one of the nicest kids in our class. I'm sure that his gentle spirit and kindness stayed with him throughout his life. Peace be with you and your family.

First of all my wife Dianne and I offer our condolences to the Vogt family on their loss. Last time Joe and I spoke was at our 40th high school reunion in Clinton, CT. He, Frank Guidone in a wheel chair at the time, Wayne Beavers and myself met outside for some funny memories. Our class of 1968 is dwindling from the small size it was. Joe you were a friend to many and will be missed. God bless you and your family.
