William T. "Bill" Hewitt

Hewitt, William T. "Bill" Swartz Creek Age 88, died peacefully at home on December 27, 2022. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, January 2, 2023, at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 7234 Fenton Rd, Grand Blanc, MI 48439 with Pastor Nathan Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-7 PM Friday, December 30, 2022, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, MI 48473. There will be no visitation on Saturday or Sunday. Visitation will also be held 10 AM - 11 AM Monday at the church. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Holy Spirit Lutheran Church. Bill was born August 31, 1934, in Owosso, MI, the son of Ambrose and Edith (Burns) Hewitt and was a 1953 graduate of Flint Northern High School. Bill married J. Jeannine Haner on August 24, 1957. They celebrated their 65th anniversary in 2022. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Bill started his career in floor coverings and later moved into painting. He was voted President of the Flint chapter of the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America and also served on the board of the Painter's Pension Fund. He owned Valley Painting, Inc., a union painting company, until his retirement in 1995. Bill was an avid golfer and had belonged to Spring Meadows Country Club and Goodrich Country Club. He was an active long-time member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church where he enjoyed serving as an Usher. Surviving are: wife, Jeannine of Swartz Creek; three children, Jeff (Gayle) Hewitt of Burton, Rhonda (Mike) Bailey of Clio, and Lisa (Roger) Combs of Swartz Creek; grandchildren, Megan (Chris) Hager, Melissa (Justin) Drake, Kimmy (Spencer) Bailey, Haley Combs, Mandy Combs, Melissa (Mike) Wagner, Matt (Chelsea) Bailey and Erin (Tyler) Collins; 8 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
