Joseph Zinni

Joseph Zinni, of North Tonawanda, entered into eternal rest Monday, April 20, 2009, at the age of 87, at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a brief illness. Born in Pollutri, Italy, Mr. Zinni resided in North Tonawanda for the past 71 years, was a retired employee of the City of North Tonawanda where he worked in the Signal Department and was a former employee of the Wurlitzer Company. A U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, Mr. Zinni was a member of Stephen Sikora Post 1322 American Legion.He was also an original member and the first historian of the Renaissance Club, an original member of the former Foam Blowers Club and a member of the former Ascension Church Holy Name Society. Joseph and his wife, Anna celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 5, 2008. Beloved husband of Anna (nee Bonomo) Zinni. Dearest father of Anna Marie (late Allen) Lockard and Joseph (Rita) Zinni, Jr., both of North Tonawanda. Proud and loving grandfather of Daniel Lockard, Roseanne Lockard, both of North Tonawanda, Nella (Michael) Smolinski of Amherst, Peter Zinni - U.S. Navy, Jill Zinni - U.S. Navy, Emily Zinni and Robert Zinni, both of North Tonawanda; and four great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Rose (Al) DiMatteo of Town of Wheatfield and the late Nicholas Zinni. Brother-in-law of Josephine Canali of Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.The family will be present to greet relatives and friends on FRIDAY, April 24th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the SABER FUNERAL HOME, 549 Oliver St., North Tonawanda (692-0271), where prayers will be offered on Saturday at 9:15 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Jude the Apostle R.C. Church (800 Niagara Falls Blvd.) at 10:00 AM. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Flowers graciously declined. Sikora Post will have services on FRIDAY at 7:30 PM.
