Josephine Daniels Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 6, 2025.
Ms. Josephine Daniels was born on September 29, 1936, in Clinton,Mississippi, to the late Arvelia and Charlie Brown. She was the middle child of three children born to that union. Josephine transitioned peacefully on Sunday April 20, 2025 at 2:49pm surrounded by her loving family.

At an early age, Josephine accepted Christ as her Savior at True Light Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi. She began her education in the public school system of Jackson, completing her studies through the 7th grade before

relocating to Harlem, New York, where she continued her education. After completing school, Josephine returned briefly to Jackson before settling in Chicago in 1954.

Josephine was married twice, first to Limmie Edwards and later to Thomas Daniels. She built a career as a cosmetologist, a profession she pursued passionately for many years. After retiring from cosmetology, she continued to work part-time at Cosmo Beauty Supply, where she remained active and connected with the community she loved.

Josephine was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a deep love for life and the people around her. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, dancing, fishing, listening to music, and, most of all, spending time with her family. Her warmth and joy were magnetic, and her love for others left a lasting impression. Many family friends join us today in celebrating her life, a testament to the love and light she shared.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Arvelia Harris; her father, Charlie Brown; her husband, Thomas Daniels; her sister, Jennie Warner; and her brother, Samuel (Mary) Spann.

Josephine leaves to cherish her memory three loving children Valerie Lynn Edwards (Freddie), Charlotte Johnson and Limmie Jamal Edwards. Her grandchildren Gregory (Sonya) Edwards, Limmie (Yana) Turner , Steven Edwards, Michelle Ingram (Jovan), Timothy Edwards, Donavan Howard, and Amanda (Darius) Glover. Great grandchildren Tonedalle Edwards, Trevon Lawrence, Gregory Johnson, Felicity, Johnson, Jamal Turner, Shakiya Edwards, Steven Edwards Jr. Steven Edwards III, Stephanie Edwards, Celio Alejando, Jaliyah Hopkins, Amari Edwards, and Madison Edwards. A host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Her unwavering love and dedication to her family will forever be remembered. Even though you're no longer here with us, your spirit and your laughter will always live on in our hearts. We know we have a beautiful angel now, looking out for us. Josephine/Nana, we love you deeply, we miss you every day, and we'll keep celebrating you in everything we do.

Nana
I been thinking about you so much. I know you left so much love here with us but it just doesn´t feel the same. Missing hearing your voice and you reminding me to just pray about it. I know you are in peace and watching over us. Love you Amanda

Losing you has left a hole in my heart that words can´t fill. I knew this day would come, but nothing could prepare me for how much it hurts. You weren´t just my grandmother-you were my comfort, my safe place, my best friend. You had a way of making everything feel okay, even when it wasn´t. I miss your voice, your laugh, your stories, and just being near you. Life feels so different without you in it. But I will carry your love with me always, and try to live in a way that honors the beautiful person you were. I love and miss you so much, Nana and I always will.
