Phynye Lobue-Blaise was called home to the Lord on August 1, 2016. She is survived by her daughter Carol Diane Alack and son-in law, Charles S. Alack and two grandchildren Ashley Ann Hercules of Missouri and Scott Charles Alack, wife Dalys and two great grandchildren Isabella Marie and Nathan Scott Alack of Tempe, Arizona. She was born on November 26, 1917 in Hammond, daughter of the late Pauline Plescia Lobue, and Angelo Lobue and beloved wife of the late Harris Garb and the beloved wife of the late John Mervin Blaise. She is preceded in death by three sisters Lucy Lobue who died at the age of 6 years old, Rose Mangiaracine, Lucille Cucchiara, and 6 brothers, Kelly, Sam, Roe, Ignatius, Anthony, and Joseph Lobue. Phynye Lobue-Blaise studied art, ballet, drama, and voice early in childhood under private teachers, but eventually painting became her true love. She was born, reared and educated in Hammond, LA and majored in Liberal Arts at SLU. As an artist she created from her imagination and preferred to paint with oils in a style that was either contemporary, romantic or impressionistic; and often while trying to compose a subject, something magical seemed to happen on her canvas. Phynye Lobue- Blaise has paintings in private collections throughout the United States and abroad. She was co-founder of the Hammond Art Guild and has captured many awards and blue ribbons in numerous exhibitions. She also exhibited in the New Orleans Art Museum and at Gallaher Hall. Mrs. Lobue-Blaise was a life member of the New Orleans Art Association, a charter member of the France-Louisiana Festivals, and was a charter member of the prestigious International Society of Artists in New York. As an artist Mrs. Phynye Lobue-Blaise is included in the Sixth Edition of the World Who's Who of women. In addition she was selected in 1980 for a biographical inclusion in the Eleventh Edition of "Personalities of the South." This reference book is published by the American Biographical Institute, a division of Historical Preservation of America, Inc. Phynye was a lifelong resident of Hammond until 2005 when she moved to St. Louis, Missouri after Katrina. She has lived with her daughter and son-in-law until her death. A Visitation for Phynye will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 from 9:00am – 11:00am at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond. A Funeral Service Celebrating Phynye's Life will immediately follow visitation at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be at Grreenlawn Cemetery in Hammond.

Dear Diane,
How I wish I'd seen your Mother's obit in time to go to her funeral. I have so many good memories of her and, of course, you. She certainly lived a long and accomplished life. If you come back to Hammond for any reason, I hope that you'll contact me. I'd love to visit with you.
My love,
Hope Bohlinger Himel
