I'm thinking of all of you and remembering all the times we spent together when I was little. I still remember those St Bernards!
take care, each and every one of all you who loved and were loved by Auntie Josephine

I was the most fortunate person to be able to call Mike and Josephine Starko, mom and dad. Although not my birth parents they became my family and I have so many wonderful memories of these two remarkable people. Always kind, open, extremely generous, quick to laugh and hard working; two strong individuals who had carved a life out for themselves in Chipman Alberta, as well as, Edmonton. It is hard for me to separate the memories I have of Mike and Josephine, so as I write this about Josephine I am also writing this about Mike. And perhaps that is fitting as they are now
together once more. I remember learning about the harvest so many years ago, with weekends on the farm. I remember how we would take meals out into the field. I remember watching Josephine make perogies without a real recipe and yet they were the best I have ever tasted. I remember Baba with the new babies and how she would tenderly care for them, come to watch them dance and encourage them in a myriad of ways. She was strong in her faith and I can still see her climb up the stairs so that she could sing with the choir. Mostly, I remember her laughter and her love. When I contemplate both of these lives, the people they've touched, the lessons they taught, the faith and love they shared,I have to pause in awe,for they were both so very rich in all the ways that truly matter. For Josephine a, remarkable life a remarkable woman. She is one I feel priviledged to have known, one I will never forget. The angels may have taken her from us, but she has left an imprint on my life, they both have, that I can only be so very grateful for.
