Joshua was born on April 1, 1975 in Houston, TX, and lived in Humble until 1982, when he moved to Porter. He continued to call Porter his home for the next 30 years. Josh was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a free-spirit, and never really cared too much about worldly possessions. He was a good and honorable man. He always gave 100%; whether it was at his job, where he worked for many years at Dynamics Delivers Now as the supervisor for the Avon account in shipping and receiving, at his church, where he ran the sound booth, or simply as a friend, doing anything he could to make you laugh. He had an infectious smile that would light up a room. He never met a stranger, but instead was a friend to all. Josh was Christ-like; kind, generous, loving and forgiving. He enjoyed fixing computers, drawing, and singing karaoke. He fought a courageous battle with heart disease. He lost that battle, due to complications from a heart transplant, on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at the age of 37. Although he lost that battle, he has won something much greater. He has a place in his Father's kingdom, where he is receiving many crowns, walking on streets of gold, and experiencing many other treasures that we can only imagine. Josh was loved tremendously, and will be missed by many. He will forever be in our hearts.
Josh is survived by his wife, Rebecca Hancock, children, Ashley Gunn and Shawn Hancock, granddaughter Joclynn Gunn, mother, Phyllis Hancock, brother Danny Hancock Jr. and wife Theresa, sister Amy Gentry and husband Josh, grandmother, Marian Turney, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Josh was re-united at Heaven's gates by his father, Danny Hancock Sr., grandfathers, James Hancock Sr. and Henry Turney, grandmother, Addie Hancock, and many other relatives. A celebration of Josh's life was held on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at his church home, Triumph Christian Center in Porter. A special thank you to Mr. Darst and Darst Funeral Home in Kingwood
