SHERMAN Edward John Sherman, 85, passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2013, in San Antonio. He was born on June 12, 1927 in Chicago, IL, to Walter and Anne Sherman. Mr. Sherman was a proud and patriotic Army Veteran who served in both World War II and Korea and was decorated with the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. Mr. Sherman received his Bachelor of Science degree from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio and enjoyed a successful career in manufacturing engineering and sales. Mr. Sherman went on to found his own engineering organization, ESCO Fluid Power, in Elgin, Illinois. In the late 1970's, Mr. Sherman and family moved to San Antonio where he owned and operated Fluid Power House. Mr. Sherman was a devoted husband and loving father, brother, and uncle. Known for his tremendous work ethic and quick dry wit, Mr. Sherman was a kind and compassionate man of strong spiritual faith who made the best of every circumstance and generously offered a patient ear, ready words of encouragement and compliment, and sincere appreciation for those around him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn, sisters Jeanette and Lillian, and brother Walter. Survivors include his daughter, Linda Sherman and family of San Antonio; son, Bill Sherman and wife Sandra of Farmington Hills, MI; 2 sisters, Mary Anne Matthews and husband Jack of South Haven, MI, and Marge Reynolds of Chicago. IL, 2 nieces, Barbara Reynolds and family and Cathy Woodruff and family; and nephew, Dan Reynolds and family. The family wishes to thank the fine staff of Stone Oak Care Center and Vitas Hospice. The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 21, at Porter Loring Mortuary North. ROSARY THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 2013 7:00 P.M. PORTER LORING NORTH CHAPEL MASS FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2013 10:00 A.M. HOLY TRINITY CATHOLIC CHURCH 20523 HUEBNER RD. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
