I was on the 10th Mountain Division Honor Guard that did the funeral for you.
We drove to Logan International to pickup you up and escort you back to Belfast, Maine.
The hearse the lead vehicle, your family and then us, the honor guard.
We spent a few days with you at the funeral home standing guard during your wake, two soldiers at each side of your casket at parade rest with our M-16 rifles, rotating shifts every hour until the wake was over.
We got to meet your family and all your friends in Belfast before the funeral, they told us how an amazing person you were. I hope we executed the funeral services for you and your family in a good way. RIP

You were just a little kid the last time I saw you. It is not a surprise what a fine young man you became. I remember you as a respectful kid with a fun sense of humor. I am so thankful to your patriotism. Your sacrifice for our country will not be forgotten. You are not forgotten. You are a hero that I am proud to have crossed paths in life. War took you from your family too young, but in peace shall you rest. Thank you Joshua. May God bless the family you left behind.

I was Josh's PL and XO in Iraq. He was an outstanding Soldier and a good man. He won't be forgotten. I think about him and Clay and Wesley every day. See you on Fiddler's Green, brothers. I miss all of you guys.

This has been long overdue for sometime my dude. There's not a day that goes by that you're not in my thoughts. Even though it was only for a short period of time, I truly cherished our friendship. When you first got to the troop, you were a knucklehead lol. You quickly turned that around and I'd like to think that our friendship had something to do with that. I only wish that I had kept in touch with you and the rest of the guys more after I had gotten out. I miss you man. Keep an eye out for all of us down here.

The night before all this happened, you came to my room and we played soul caliber on the PS2. We both had a blast talking smack and beating each other on the game. I was crying when heard your battle roster numbers come across the radio. I remeber watching the 1SG, he had tears in his eyes too. It should have been my truck. If I hadn't gotten in that vehicle roll over it would have been. I miss you.

Humble and I became very good friends at our first unit 3-17 cav at 10th mt division in fort drum. We were transferred to 171 cav where they split us into to different companies but that did not stop our friendship. He went to philadelphia with me and stayed at my parents for a long weekend pass. I had wonderful times with josh and will never forget my buddy. Any family that wants to reach me... 561-891-0163. Specialist Gerald Haffey (Jerry)

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Psalm 23
1
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3
He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock! And that we now know our "Guardian Angel" personally!
My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!

Rick,
Just a note to let you know our family's prayers are with you and yours. I was comforted by our telephone conversion. Clay and Josh were one and the same. They truly were brothers in arms. Though they left this earth together that day, they continue to be soldiers in God's Army. God bless you and your wife along with the rest of the family.
Sincerely,

To the Family of Spc. Joshua U. Humble:
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young man who gave his life so selflessly. We lost our son 12/1/05.
I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. They will never be forgotten, never able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your memories will sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away. God Bless this courageous soldier and his family.
