Joshua Ward Obituary
July 15, 1993 - May 10, 2025
Joshua Paul Ward Sr., born on July 15, 1993, in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away unexpectedly on May 10, 2025, at the age of 31. A devoted father, beloved son, fiancée, brother, and friend, Joshua touched the lives of those around him with his quiet strength, generous spirit, and deep love for his family & friends.
Joshua was the proud and loving father of two beautiful children, Olivia Ward and Joshua Ward Jr., and a dedicated father figure to Savannah Washington, the daughter of his beloved fiancée, Sophia Parker, whom he loved and cared for as his own. He brought joy and pride to his mother, Darlene Ward, and his father, Paul Williams. Joshua was also a cherished brother to Brittany Mealey and Josiah Williams, and a beloved uncle to his nephews, Jerome and Jerrell Mealey. He shared a close bond with his grandmother, Barbara Ward Francis, who held a special place in his heart.
Professionally, Joshua was an owner-operator truck driver contracted with Kenan Advantage, where his dedication and work ethic were admired by all who knew him. He also served his country with honor in the military. Joshua was an alumnus of West Jefferson High School and later attended Alabama A&M University, where he was a member of the band, playing the trumpet-an instrument that reflected his vibrant and soulful personality.
Joshua's life was shaped and guided by many, including his respected mentor, bonus dad, and friend, Hezekiah Brinson, whose wisdom and support had a lasting impact on him.
Though he spent much of his time on the road and in service to others, Joshua was, at heart, a homebody. He found peace in quiet moments, reading books, relaxing at home, and spending quality time with his loved ones. Family was his greatest joy and deepest priority.
Joshua was preceded in death by his beloved son, Chozen Ward.
A celebration of Joshua's life will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Westbank United Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2401 General Meyer Ave., New Orleans, LA.
Joshua's legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always cherished.

We both played trumpet in West Jefferson high school, marching band, and all I can remember was how chill he was and my dude smile was always bright! I remember when we added him to the crew to march in a parade and we didn´t have all of the uniforms prepared so when he got his, it was a little too small and we made fun of the Highwater pants lol
