Joshua Kenneth Williams, 18, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2011. Born in Fort Wayne, Josh was a senior at Heritage High School where he was in the top five of his class. He was on the football team and enjoyed showing off his muscles, giving big bear hugs and just showing up. He will be missed by all. Surviving are his mother, Dawn (Bryan) Gerber of Hoagland, father, Kenneth (Mindy) Williams of Fort Wayne, siblings Jasmine, Jessica, Justin, Jonathan and Jordan Gerber all of Hoagland, Jared Williams of CA, Skye, Autumn and Mandy Williams all of Fort Wayne, grandparents Gerald and Pat Williams, Yvonne Sass and Carol Hemsoth all of Fort Wayne, Tom (Sharon) Sass and Robert (Stephanie) Hemsoth, both of New Haven, Joshua was preceded in death by his brother Heath Williams. Service is 10am Saturday at Messiah Lutheran Church, 7211 Stellhorn Rd, with Rev. William Smith officiating, calling 1 hour prior at church. Calling also 2 to 5pm and 7 to 9pm Friday at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave. Burial in Concordia Cemetery Gardens. Memorials may be made to Heritage Football. Joshua was a really nice and friendly person; his compassion often shocked me, even though I only met and talked with him on three occasions. I remember the first time I met him, he was my buddy and tour guide for when I visited Heritage.He was so kind that he offered to pay for my lunch even though I had money myself. Joshua had a kindness in his heart that is becoming a rare attribute.I will keep you in my prayers Josh and I hope others do as well.I beg god to give his family the power to persevere though this tragedy and to be able cope with the pain.

josh when i found out i couldnt harldy think or do andything i just couldnt belive it ur so handsome and smart and loved by lots. i remeber when we were in class wed always wink at eachother and talk all the time and u would always yell hi tabitha down the hall way. i miss you hun a lot. u were a great friend great doesnteven say it all but i love you josh rest in peace ull be missed lots. and never forgotten.

My deepest sympathy to Josh's family. We got to know Josh as his neighbor over the years. I especially recall his friendship with Sakhi, our exchange student from Afghanistan in 2006. Josh was a good neighbor. He is in my prayers.
