Joy went home to the Lord August 29, 2005 at age 90. She died peacefully in her sleep of natural causes. Joy E. Lowrance was born in Stockman, Texas on March 8, 1915 to parents George Washington Lowrance and wife Jenny Oxsheer Lowrance. Joy was a graduate of Steven F. Austin State University, Nacogdoches, Texas, and received her Masters Degree of Education from the University of Michigan. Joy taught students in Michigan at the Walled Lake Consolidated School System, retiring from Glengary Elementary in 1977. Joy valued her friends and neighbors with a humorous attitude endearing her to those close to her. Joy was very much a Joy! The family would like to acknowledge Pipestone Place Assisted Living for giving Joy love, care and comfort the last years of her life. Joy is survived by her sons and their wives George Wright P.J., Harold Wright Diane, Charley Wright Teresa. Grandchildren Brittany Wright, Austin Wright, Johanna Wright and Jimmy Wright, brother Robert Lowrance of Hawkins and sisters, Iva Lowrance formerly of Timpson, Grace Pickens of Pleasanton and Sophia Hancock of Lufkin. Joy was preceded in death by her first husband James Wright, second husband Harold Fugate; brothers Thomas Lowrance and Ox Lowrance; sisters May Lowrance, Ann Lowrance, and Lou Engle. Services will be held 10:00 AM September 10, 2005 at the Greenwood Cemetery in Garrison, Texas. Mom wanted her many friends and pupils to know how much their friendship meant to her. Joy requested that you make donations to your favorite charities in lieu of flowers if you so choose.

I taught with Joy back in the 60's at Glengary. We had wonderful times then and I cherish those memories.
I send you my heartfelt sympathy.
