Joy Hardcastle Obituary
Joy Ruth Patton Hardcastle, 68, of Crossville, passed away May 13, 2009. Memorial services were held May 16 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home, with Pastor Mike Kerley officiating.
Mrs. Hardcastle was born Aug. 22, 1940, in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of Eldridge and Frances Opal Mason Patton.
She was a retired sales and marketing agent and a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. She was also a gifted thespian and talented opera singer who performed in the theater during her earlier years. She was very active in the community, being a founding advocate of Battered Women, Good Samaritans and the organization Chariots that operated in Cumberland County several years ago.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Stacy Wakefield of Royal Palm, FL; daughters and son-in-law, Gina-Dee and John Celestre of Forsythe, GA and Autumn Hardcastle of Crossville; grandchildren, Logan and Brooke Wakefield, Jory Herrmann and Daisy Pyburn.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, James Wakefield and Edward Hardcastle; and son, Kenneth Wakefield.
Hood Funeral Home and Crematory, LLC (www.hoodfuneralhome.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
