Private services for Joyce H. Bode, 81, of Jefferson, will be 11 a.m. today, December 14, 2010, at Memory Park in Longview with Steve Ramsey officiating. Arrangements are by East Texas Funeral Home. Mrs. Bode passed away Friday, December 10, 2010, in Longview.
Born in Fort Worth and raised in Sweetwater, she married her high school sweetheart, Robert Bode, in 1947. Mrs. Bode moved to Longview in 1959 where they raised three sons. She was a homemaker, office manager for Longview Mfg. and, in retirement, she and Bob had a wedding videography business. Her house was always the gathering place for her sons and their friends. Whatever her sons' interest at the time, be it music or motorcycles, Joyce was always there participating in their hobbies. Joyce's biggest joy was raising her three sons and being married to Bob for sixty-two years.
Joyce moved to Jefferson with her son Mark in 2009, where she enjoyed the companionship of family and her two dogs, Prissy and D. O. G.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Bode; mother, Margie Harber; and dad, Earl T. Harber.
Survivors include her sons, Cliff Bode and wife Anna, Jack Bode and Mark Bode; brother, Earl Harber; grandchildren, Mike Scott, Jennifer Moore, Sara Bode, John Bode, Kimberly Bode, Brian Bode and Ben Bode; great-grandchildren, Sydney Scott, Jackson Scott, Hayley Scott and Harrison Scott; and special son and daughter Steve and Linny Ramsey.
Memorials may be made to Hospitality House Apts., PO Box 25213, Houston, TX 77265-5213

Joyce was a special friend; She and Bob had me to dinner many times, and they were all memories I cherish. We were "dog people" and at one time, they prepared their wills and should anything happen to them, they left "Cricket" to my care. Now that she and Bob are once again hand-in-hand, I know Cricket is with them as well. What a wonderful new beginning they have! I pray blessings in your time of sorrow, and know you will cherish their memories! Muriel Sutton
