Joyce Cochenour Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 17, 2025.
On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, "at the lovely age of 83, Joyce Cochenour kicked the bucket."

Those were her words and that was pretty much all that she wanted everyone to know. Anyone who knew Joyce knows how funny and fitting those words are. This is not a conventional obituary, and Joyce was not a conventional woman. Joyce was charming, witty, loving, funny, ornery, and an all around good time. To give her an audience was to watch her light up and become the life of the party. She was full of wisecracks and one-liners; some of them would make you blush.

Joyce had a love of reading and a soft spot for cheesy sci-fi movies, the Olympics, and Women's Basketball. She took a great deal of pride in her home and her Ford Thunderbird Convertible. She spent many years at Anchor Hocking as a Ware Selector.

Joyce was the daughter of the late Roy Gwin, Sr. and Alice (Henson) Gwin. She was known as Gwinny to her "little brother," Junior (Roy Gwin, Jr). She was survived by her brother, and deeply mourned by her loving wife, Bonnie Wilson: both of whom have since passed.

Joyce is survived by who she always called her pride and joy, her children, Vickie (John) Connell, Rusty (Shelley) Cochenour and grandchildren, Rebecca and Nic Cochenour.

A year has passed since she left this place. A year full of firsts, without her. A year of misty eyed moments, a year of laughing at stories and remembering when, a year of missing her bread soup and cherry cheesecake. The sting of missing her is a beautiful reminder of the place she holds in our lives and of how much she will always be loved.

At Joyce's request no services were held.
