Joyce Ewart Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 9, 2024.
Joyce Anne Ewart (née Mello), 70, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2024, in Somerset, MA. Born in Fall River, MA, Joyce was a beacon of kindness and generosity, touching the lives of not only her family and friends but also strangers and anyone in need.

Joyce graduated from Tiverton High School and furthered her education at Southeastern Massachusetts University at Dartmouth. She dedicated many years of her professional life as a tax preparer and paralegal at the Hague & Sahady firm, where she was highly respected for her meticulous work and compassionate nature.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Joyce was deeply passionate about her hobbies. She relished the New England summers, spending time boating, camping with her grandchildren, and enjoying beach outings. Joyce was also an avid player of pickleball, engaged in cardio fitness, loved dancing, playing rummy cube, and knitting. Her joy for life and ability to capture beauty was evident when she photographed a stunning sunset outside her hospital room a month before her passing-a testament to her enduring appreciation for life's simple pleasures.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Mark Ewart, and her sons, Tyler and Trevor Ewart, as well as her sister, Donna Mello. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Louise Mello, and her in-laws, Herb and Emma Ewart.

A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on Saturday, September 7th at 11:00 a.m. at McGovern's Restaurant, Shove St., Fall River, MA. The Pocasset Funeral Home in Tiverton, RI, is assisting the family during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance at ocrahope.org or by calling (212) 268-1002, to continue the fight against ovarian cancer, a cause close to Joyce's heart.

Joyce's legacy of love, strength, and generosity will forever resonate with those who were fortunate enough to know her, and her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us.
