Joyce was a dear, dear friend. She helped save my husband Paul's life by getting him a doctor who made house calls. We both shared an interest in science and space exploration.

I´m so saddened to just be seeing this. Aunt Joyce was so kind, so smart, and adventurous! It was nothing for her to travel by herself to another country to give a lecture. It was nothing for her to hop on a train to New York City to watch her beloved tennis matches. Not only did she have a brilliant mind- but was talented with sewing and decorating. As most would know- she went kicking and screaming from retirement. She loved her professorship at Towson University. Teaching Computer Science was her passion. She loved watching movies and would host movie night in her condo. She had an extensive video and book/magazine collection. She contemplated taking piano lessons (again) and bought an electric keyboard. She never wanted to sit still. She loved a good glass of Pinot Grigio and had her favorite restaurants in Baltimore where she would meet my sisters and I anytime. She loved her beloved Baltimore sport teams. Baltimore was her home. She was so proud of her condo overlooking Inner Harbor. I once asked her if she was ever afraid by herself- and she told me "never". She found fellowship in her Presbyterian Church who were very faithful to her when she needed them after the passing of her husband, son and her terrible fall. To you my dear, beautiful Aunt Joyce, you will be so missed and you are so loved. I like to think you are with your son Robbie, who you missed terribly after his death, listening to some good music. Rest Easy. Cara

I am so sorry to hear this news. I had called Joyce several times over the last few years but had not reached her. Herb and I always enjoyed our dinners with Joyce and we both missed seeing her. She was a great colleague, leader, and friend with a wonderful personality. Condolences to all who loved her.
