Karla -- I am sorry to learn of your mother's recent death. Clearly, you got your joyful and fun-loving spirit from her. May she rest in peace.

To Joyce's family,

I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Joyce for many years. I learned from her, laughed with her, ( a lot) and respected her for her long and dedicated career. Joyce truly cared about people, treated them with respect, and as a result was respected by most people she met and dealt with. Joyce always asked about my family members and sincerely was interested in the happenings in their lives.
I'll miss Joyce very much and will think of her often.
I offer these words in celebration of a life well spent,

My father was an Iowa State Trooper (Bill Starr #273) in Ankeny for a lot of years. He was able to work with Joyce too and always had good things to say. I joined Ankeny PD in 1990 and also had the privilege of working with Joyce for about four years before she retired. I loved ever minute of it. Joyce always had a smile on her face, and a Hello when she saw you. She loved to kid around and always made me laugh. Joyce had a serious side too. But that didn't show very often, unless you were on the wrong side of her desk. Memories from deciding where we were going to eat lunch, to Joyce dispatching my first car chase while she covered the radio during someone else's break. I'm going to miss those times. Thank you for all your years of service to the community. You are one special lady and will always be missed. R.I.P Joycer #4

I have known Joyce most of my life and I loved her laugh. She was always kind and friendly. She was an Ankeny Legacy. She would pick my mom up for their ladies club every month since my mom cannot drive anymore. In fact she just took her last week. My deepest condolences to the entire Lundstrom family.
