Joyce Vierra

VIERRA, Joyce - Age 79, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025, in Sacramento, California. Born and raised in West Sacramento, California, Joyce graduated from James Marshall High School before embarking on her "best work" as a mother. She spent the 1990's in Hawaii (Oahu) and Gold Beach, Oregon, before returning to California.

Joyce's dedicated career included serving with the States of Oregon and California. She was an avid tennis player and took great pride in her garden, where she spent many hours nurturing her blackberries, avocados, oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruit, tomatoes, cucumbers, green beans, and many other plants. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family and doting on her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling as much as possible. She often went with the kids on their trips to National and State Parks, theme parks, and the coast. Mexico was her favorite with Tom, Jean, and Diana. She also advertured with Barbara and Dana to various fun and exciting locations, and all over with her tennis buddies Sharon, Theresa, and Lucky - mostly involving WINERIES!

She is lovingly remembered by her son Andrew; daughter-in-law Elizabeth; and grandchildren Justin, Alaina, and Thomas. She also leaves behind her sisters, Norma and Nancy; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Everett Patterson; her brother, Thomas (Valerie); and her former husband, Edward Vierra.

A celebration of life will be planned for a future date to honor Joyce's memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers or the Huntington's Disease Society of America.
