Joyce A. Washington

Joyce Ann Young was born July 12th, 1958, in Dublin, MS to the late Julia Bell Dixion and Allen Davis. Shortly after in the early the 1960's the family relocated to Detroit, MI where she attended and graduated from the Detroit public school system.

Joyce Ann was united in marriage in 1978 to Harold Washington of 45 years during this union three children were born. At an early age she accepted Christ and was a member of Peace Baptist Church. Joyce Ann Washington was a devoted wife and mother who receive her license for beauty and cosmetology in the early 1990's.

God called Joyce Ann home to be with Him on May 29, 2024, at Saint Catherine Hospital. Joyce Ann was preceded in death, by mother Julia Bell Dixion, Father Allen Davis, Grandmother Meggie Ruth Johnson, Brother Lee Roy Young, Nephew Terrence Wilson, and Mother and father in-law Willie Grace and A.J Washington.

Joyce Ann leaves to cherish her loving memories Harold Washington (husband) Harold Washington Jr (son) Star Washington (Tyrone Robinson) and Janell (James) Moore. Grandchildren Nikyra Floyd (Minnesota) Avontie Dejohnette, Armonee Washington (Wisconsin) Dayvion Lipsey (Arkansas) Tyrone Robinson Jr, Darius Moore, James Moore Jr, Jayla Moore. Two sisters Gloria Wilson and Lee (Lary) Gist of Detroit MI. Two Aunts Milderd Poindexter, Mary (William) Bryant and one Uncle Warren (Minnie) Young of Detroit, MI. Special cousin Della Lenoir - Hogan. One special friend, Jean Thompson. Two special sisters-in-law: Mother Norma Jean Smith and Amanda Washington. Adopted daughter LaToya Jones (Legend Dove and Kingston Jones) and host of cousins, nieces, nephews and in- laws.
