Juan Simon Zatarain

October 8, 1927 - January 6, 2015
Juan (John) Simon Zatarain, beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend died peacefully on Tuesday January 6, 2015. He was preceded in death by and reunited with his wife of almost 57 years, Elvia, whom he loved and missed.
John is survived by his son Bobby and wife Leticia, daughters; Irma and husband Leon, Yolanda and Sonia. John is also survived by his grandchildren Brian and wife Miriam, Gene, Jackie and husband Jesus, John Robert and wife Gabriela, Karl and wife Aleaneida, Samantha and husband John. Great grandchildren; Mia, Diego, Isabella, John Karl, Ema, and John Gonzalo. Sisters; Josefina, Elsie Jane, Dolores and husband Clarence; Brothers; Ernest and wife Herminia, Gilbert and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
In John's early life he led a life of service in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He later worked as a master plumber for John A Albert and was selected as Chief Building and Housing Plumbing Inspector for the City of San Antonio. John and his father Juan led a life of service volunteering time with the Carmelite nuns at Little Flower.
He will always be remembered with love and respect for his passionate service to his country and community, work ethic, admirable combination of strength and gentleness, one-of-a-kind intelligence and humor and most importantly his undying and whole-hearted love of his family.

A memorial mass will be held at the Basilica of Little Flower on Saturday January 31, 2015 at 10:00 am and interment following at San Fernando Cemetery #2.
