MISSION - Juanita V. Perez, 94, passed on to a better life at Mission Nursing Home on March 17, 2006. Born to Braulio and Claudia Villarreal in Mexico, Juanita and her family moved to Mission, Texas when she was four years old.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 53 years, Sigifredo P. Perez; an infant son, Sigifredo P. Perez, Jr.; her brother, Jose Villarreal, her father and mother-in-law, Tomas and Emilia Perez, and her beloved grandchildren, Xina Yvette Cavazos, Ricardo Rene Perez and Karla Ysabel Cavazos.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Sylvia (Roy) Cavazos, Tomas (Mary Lou) Perez, Ricardo (Irma) Perez and Selma (Ruben) Femat and her nephew, Reynaldo (Santos) Perez, who she loved as a son. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Omar (Camille), Dario and Javier Cavazos; Marco, Amanda, Geraldo (Edna) and Jaime Perez; Marissa and Sergio (Celina) Femat. Juanita was also blessed with four great grandchildren, Leanna Isabel Cavazos and Anthony K. Rodelo, Alyssa Brianna Femat and Cassandra Renae Femat. She is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roberto and Oralia Perez and their families.
Juanita was devoted to her family and instilled lifelong values in her children, emphasizing the importance of a home filled with respect, faith and love. She loved to garden, sew, and embroider and lived by the virtue that ``cleanliness was next to Godliness.'' Never having the opportunity to finish her education, she fostered a love of learning in her children. Now as she sits beside her devoted husband, her three grandchildren, her brother, parents and cousins, she must rejoice in knowing that, though she was blessed with a long prosperous life, she will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be on Monday, March 20, 2006 from 5-9 p.m. at Virgil Wilson Mortuary, 2200 N. Conway, Mission with a rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at Our Lady of Guadalupe at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Mission.
Pallbearers will be her much-loved grandsons, Omar, Dario and Javier Cavazos; Marco, Geraldo and Jaime Perez; and Sergio Femat.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Marvin Tavarez, Juanita's doctor for more than 35 years, to Angelita Sanchez, her devoted caregiver and friend; to the nurses and staff at Briarcliff Nursing Home and Mission Nursing Home for their patience, understanding and kindness shown to the elderly, especially to Fausto at Briarcliff and Alfredo Moreno at Mission Nursing Home.
